Rainy Weather Turkeys

Hunting Tip 152

I know it is difficult to drag yourself out of bed on those mornings when it may be raining a little bit but it could pay dividends for you.  If it gets to raining too hard by the time I get to my hunting ground, I sit and wait it out in my truck.  But… you better believe I’ll be in the turkey’s favorite field within a half hour of when the rain lets up.  Turkey’s love to use barren fields after a good dousing of rain.  The small grubs and worms are at the surface and make for easy pickins as well as the bugs that are on the surface of the grass trying to keep from being drowned out by the puddles of rain.  This allows for birds to have a feeding frenzy.  Make sure you are in your best field shortly after the rain lets up.  Your harvest chances will increase dramatically.
