Hunting Tip 174: Hunting Scrapes

It is a well known fact that rubs and scrapes are indicative of an active buck in the area. But what does this mean? How can a hunter use these signs to his/her advantage? Should you hunt them in the morning, afternoon, or what is the most productive time? There are many theories that exist on the prime time to hunt over scrapes. Personally, my favorite time to hunt scrapes is directly after a rain. If you think about it, a buck needs to go around and freshen up his scrapes after a good rain, so this is a very productive time to be hunting over scrapes. If you decide to test this tactic, be sure you take all the normal precautionary steps to limit your presence in the area, and with any luck you will catch the buck freshening up his area. Try this tip and see if it works for you. Happy hunting.
