Hunting Tip 150
Many of you probably live near creeks, rivers, or some type of water way. Take a day off from walking and hop in a john boat or canoe and travel down one of these waterways calling every so often until you can locate a turkey. Pull the boat to the side, tie off, and chase down that gobbler. There is a water way in southern Indiana called Oil Creek where we have taken a john boat and a 9 horse up stream and shut off the motor just to float back down stream to the truck locating gobblers all the way. It takes several hours but we get on quite a few birds that way. If we hear a bird quite a ways up or down stream, we’ll fire the motor up and high tail it to them. The birds are pretty used to the sound of a boat motor. It is a different type of hunting but you may want to give it a try sometime. Let me know how it turns out on our forum. Good hunting.
