While in Alaska, I picked up on one of the 'outfitter' secrets that was pretty amazing. They would buy $3.95 paring knives at the local hardware store and use these for skinning and caping game. One knife will last for an entire bear and when finished can be added to the camp collection of 'steak' knives. These $4 knives are thinner and more flexible then a 'hunting' knife and do an amazing job!
