Tatlow Mountaian Outfitters offers hunting expeditions that reflect the standards and traditions of the past. Our wilderness area consists of mountains, glaciers, alpine meadows, valley bottoms, and clear blue lakes. The guide area is partially within Ts'yl-os and Nuntsi Provincial Parks, assurance that it will remain pristine and natural. With extremely low road access, your main transportation while hunting is done by classic horseback, hiking, and boat. The big game hunts we offer are: California Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat, Trophy Mule Deer, Moose, Black Bear, Cougar, Lynx, Bobcat, Wolf, and Coyote.

All of our hunts are fair chase hunts. The hunts are run out of our main lodge in the beautiful Gunn Valley, 135 km south west of Williams Lake. We provide comfortable accommodations in a uniquely remote mountain setting. Hunters can arrive at the lodge via vehicle (a pick-up truck is best), floatplane, or pick up in Williams Lake can be arranged. Come as a client and leave a member of our family!

Spring Big Game Hunts

Black Bear: This "two bear" area has a high population of Bears. The area is known for its great color bears, with about 45% of the population being color. Methods of hunting include horseback, hiking, boat, 4x4, and spot & stalk.
The average shot can be from 50 to 150 yards. We focus on south facing slopes and open areas. This is a great Adult/Youth hunt, as well it is a great hunt for anyone beginning to Big Game Hunt. Our spring hunts go from May 1 to June 15. Fall Bear start Sept 1 and can be added to another species hunt. Our average Bears can go from 6 to 7 foot with great heads. 1 on 1, and 2 on 1 hunts available.  The second bear can be hunted and/or harvested for an additional charge of $750US.

Fall Big Game Hunts

California Bighorn Sheep: These sheep are quickly becoming the most sought after of the sheep species. The methods we use to hunt sheep are horseback, hiking, spikecamps and spot & stalk. The average shot a hunter should be prepared to make is 200 to 300 yards. This hunt requires that the hunter be in good physical shape. Our sheep would score on average 160 B&C. Our hunts run Sept 20 - Oct 20. These hunts will always remain a 1 on 1 hunt.

Mountain Goat: This is definitely the most underrated trophy within BC. The methods we use to hunt include horseback, hiking, boat, and spot & stalk. For this hunt the hunter should be in fair shape. Our average goats will be 9 to 10.5 inches with solid bases. We strive for 50 B&C and up. Shot will range from 50 to 200 yards. Our hunts run Sept 1 - Oct 31. Later season billies offer a great coat. These hunts are 1 on 1, or 2 on 1. Mountain Goat and Mule Deer make a great hunt combo.

Trophy Mule Deer: This area is known for its trophy class Mule Deer. Horseback, hiking, and spot & stalk are methods we use during the hunt. Hunters wishing to hunt our muleys should be in fair physical condition. Trophy bucks will range 160 to 180 B&C, with a few each year going over 190. The average shot will go 50 to 200 yards. Hunts go Sept 1 to Nov 30. 1 on 1, and 2 on 1 hunts are available. The Deer is a great addition to a hunt combo.

Canadian Moose: We have a strong population of Moose in our area, quality bulls can be found each season. We like to run these hunts during the rut, which occurs usually from mid Sept - mid Oct depending on the weather conditions. Bulls can be called in or spot & stalked. We us horseback, hiking, boat, limited 4x4, tree stands, and spot & stalk methods of hunting for bull hunting. Tatlow bulls will have spreads form 40 to 55 inches. Shots will range from 100 - 300 yards. Hunt run from Sept 10 to Nov 15. 1 on 1, or 2 on 1 hunts are available. Moose and Black Bear make a great combo hunt.

Cougar: Some of the largest cats are coming from the Chilcotin Mountains and our area is no exception. These are winter hunts, snowmobiles and 4x4s as well as hounds are used for this hunt. Our cats can go over 7 feet and weigh in at better than 160lbs. Hunts usually go from Dec thru Jan. Lynx and Bobcat can also be taken during this hunt for a trophy fee. This is a 1 on 1 hunt.

Predator hunts: This is an exciting winter hunt with all the adrenaline you would comfortably want. These hunts are based out of our ranch. An excellent choice of hunt to finish off any trophy room.

New! Trapline Adventures: We now offer adventures for clients that are looking for something a little less ordinary.
Clients arrive in Quesnel, there we put them up in one of the cities local attractions, The Billy Barker Casino. The casino will serve as the main base of this northern adventure, from there we will pick up clients and spend days as a "Cariboo Trapper". Guests can expect to spend their days on different lines participating in trap set, fur harvest, and finishing up with fur preparation. Visitors can expect to bring home one of each fur caught of a Marten, Fisher, Mink, Beaver, Ermine, Coyote, Fox, and Otter. Wolverine, Wolf, and lynx can be purchased at fair value. Some of these truly elusive trophies can only be had in this fashion, so for anyone thinking that their trophy rooms are complete, well the may have to think again. The cost of this 6 night/5day winter adventure is $4000US, this could also fit well with an extended stay and a predator and/or cat hunt. Fishing

The fishing in our area can only be described as world class. Our high mountain lakes offer wild rainbow trout, bull trout, and dolly varden. With an abundance of insect life and cold mountain streams feeding the lakes, the fish remain in top "fighting" condition. June and July are the best times to book for those seeking the native rainbows, later summer produces the best fishing for massive bull trout. All of this great fishing action can be enjoyed by fly and spin-cast fisherman. Experienced professional guides are available to help ensure you get to the fish.

Pack Trips

Pack Trips are a great way to get away from it all and experience the spectacular vistas is to book a multi-day pack trip. Guides, with horses in tow, will take you to places dominated by rugged beauty, snow-capped mountains, and abundant wildlife. These all-inclusive trips, are a must for those who have some riding experience and are looking for a riding vacation unlike any other.

Alpine Hiking

Day hiking out of the main lodge into alpine is a great adventure. Hikers will take a packed lunch and head up for a day of awesome exploration. Mountain goats are often seen and photographed on these hikes. Guided and non-guided hikes are available. Hikers can spend a night in the mountains at one of our camps and enjoy a true clear mountain morning like most will never see.

Guide School

Welcome to RED DOG Hunting Guide School, a professional training course and educational instruction for big game hunting guides & outfitters. We are based in the the Chilcotin Country of British Columbia, Canada, and are dedicated to training the best guides within the hunting industry today. Our 21 day long course is comprehensive, covering instruction in all aspects of professional guiding - everything needed to be a top hand hunting guide. We supply a horse based, hands-on training method to ensure all graduates are educated and have the essential skills needed to be super professional hunting guides. Students can expect to spend time in a classroom environment as well as important time in the field.

The Red Dog Hunting Guide School is located at our main hunting camp and home of Tatlow Mountain Outfitters, licensed professional BC guides. Student accommodations are the same comfortable cabins we offer our hunting clients. Our spacious main lodge is where students will gather every morning for breakfast and the theory portion of the course. Being in an actual hunting lodge setting will give students a true to life experience. The lodge is a 3.5 hour drive from Williams Lake, located in the Chilcotin region of British Columbia, Canada. Pick-up and delivery can be pre-arranged.
