Northwoods Adventures is located along the Mighty Peace river in La Crete, Alberta Canada. We outfit some of the best bear and moose hunting in the area and are the only outfitting operation on this stretch of the river, so there is no other hunting pressure. We harvest several Pope and Young bears every year with skulls over 21 inches and our moose range in size from 30" to 55" spreads with the occasional monster going over 60".

Bear Hunts

The hunting area is a 2 Bear area. The hunt is a river hunt along the Mighty Peace River with16 ft. aluminum boats. We cover up to 20 miles of river per day. Our tree stands over bait are situated every 2 to 3 miles along the river. About 15% of our Bears are colored. They range in color from blonde,cinnamon, chocolate brown to black.

A D.V.D. OF OUR HUNTS IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST,WITH LOTS OF TESTIMONIALS OF OUR HUNTERS AND THEIR BEARS.

Our camp headquarters is a 55 ft. camp trailer unit complete with natural gas heat and shower facilities. The camp is situated just 2 miles from the river,so you don't have to camp in a tent on this hunt. Home made meals are served by a full time cook.

We take Pope & Young sized Bears every year. Our success rate has been 100% in the last 10 years. Several large Bears have been taken in our camp that scored well over 21 inches in skull size.

THIS IS THE ONLY OUTFITTER OPERATING ON THIS STRETCH OF RIVER,SO THERE IS NO OTHER HUNTING PRESSURE.

A typical hunting day will consist of a light breakfast in the morning. Then the previous days Bears are skinned after pictures have been taken. The hides are then bagged and frozen for the hunter to take home. Then a hearty dinner is served before the hunters leave for their days hunt. A lunch is packed for the hunters and their guides before they leave at about 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon for their stands. There is daylight till 11:00 p.m. at night this time of the year, so there are still a lot of hours left to spend on the tree stand. The days hunt ends with a boat ride back to the truck and then back to the camp headquarters.

The cost for this hunt is $3800.00 and an additional $500.00 if you would like to harvest a second bear.

Moose Hunts

Our Moose Hunts are hills hunts by atv. The accomodation during our Moose hunt is a large 16x32 ft. cabin. This camp is located on the Buffalo Head Hills 11 miles from the nearest road beside the beautiful Buffalo Creek. It comes with a shower room. You head out in the morning from the cabin by atv to a suitable calling area. The Moose are called into the numerous clearings in the area. The Moose are skinned and quartered and then taken out to a butcher for processing.

The terrain is hilly with a fair amount of muskeg in the low spots. The tree cover is large heavy white spruce,aspens,black spruce in the low areas,and willows.

The cost for this hunt is $5900.00
