Alberta Whitetail Deer Hunts
We hunt farm land, fringe, and the deep woods, by stand hunting, spot stalk, and driving many bush roads. We hunt both private and forest land. We have over 50 heated tower stands in Alberta and this allows us to move around depending on wind conditions for scent control. Our stands are set up mainly on deer trails between the feeding and bedding area on 100 ft wide cut lines. Our stand location is about 200 yards from the primary crossing. This gives you as much time as possible to judge and make the shot.
Along with tower stands we also offer quick pop up blinds. These can be hidden well with all sorts of different type of camouflage patterns, allowing them to be diverse depending on weather conditions. These blinds can be set up in very tight slough bottoms and allow for numerous different set ups for different hunters. I try to accommodate your style of hunting as much as possible taking into consideration the weather forecast for that day to give you the best possible odds at harvesting a trophy buck. Our average Whitetail for the past 3 years is 150 BC.
Our lodge boasts all the amenities of home. Accommodations include 2 hunters per room with 5 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. We also have full cell phone coverage, wireless internet, and satellite tv. In the evenings, we also have plenty of room to socialize.

Alberta Rifle Mule Deer Hunts
We offer five rifle mule deer hunts in November which can be done in conjunction with a whitetail deer hunt. We hunt 80% spot & stalk. We are very selective in the deer we choose to harvest. These deer are from a 170-190 class with an average for the year of 180. This is a very enjoyable & scenic hunt where you will see many mule deer bucks to choose from. You may also hunt in tower stands we have set up on on alfalfa fields, where the mule deer and whitetail deer feed in the evenings.

Alberta Black Bear Hunts
Hunt big bruin blacks and colored bears, no bugs, 5 star lodge, eat like a king and sleep like a rock - that's what you can expect when you come black bear hunting with North Star Outfitters! We take 24 bears hunters with about 5-6 hunters per week in ranch country just north of the rich farmland where the food is very plentiful.
Our bear hunting area is about 500,000 acres. I own 90% of the permits therefore I hold the key to managing the black bear hunting in this area. I have 50% color phase bears with 25% harvested being colored phased bears over 6 foot and 25% of the black bears harvested are over 7ft with 20" plus skulls. We have a 2 bear per hunter quota. If you choose to harvest two bears, I only allow you to harvest 1 colored bear 6 foot or better and the other must be black. During your black bear hunts, you will see between 4-8 bears in a evening and in a full week you will see up towards of 30-40 bears.
Our season runs from the 15th of April until the 31st of May. All our bear hunts are over bait with bait sites at a minimum of 4 miles apart. Shooting distances from stands for bow hunters are from 20-25 yds. and rifle hunters from 50-100 yards. I feed the bears as much as possible and I do not limit them to how much they can eat. I believe that if the meal is easy to obtain they will continue to return on a regular basis.
Every one thinks bear hunting over bait is like shooting fish in a barrel, well if it was only about killing that might be the case. But harvesting a trophy bear takes careful placement of stands to outsmart the trophy bears we want. Most trophy bears are at least 7 years old or older so you can imagine how many times this bear has come to know how to eat every well and be safe doing so.

Alberta Waterfowl Hunts
Our waterfowl hunts are either 3 or 6 day. You will enjoy goose hunts & duck hunts along the North Saskatchewan River in eastern Alberta We have 6-8 hunters per week at camp, allowing ample shooting and quality shooting for each hunter so that hunters will reach bag limits more often. Every hunters possession limit is a 2 day bag limit which is 16 geese, 16 ducks and 60 snow geese.
We are very fortunate that we have the North Saskatchewan River right next to us that holds the waterfowl until freeze up. Even on a dry year we always have the river to keep us in birds. I have experienced spotters who live in the area and keep in close, contact with the land owners. They know where the peas are being planted and where the duck and geese are roosting to make sure that we have the same land access or even more each year.
We usually target geese in the mornings, but we will also shoot some ducks when the opportunity presents itself. In the afternoon we hunt ducks on fields and close to ponds with final approach blinds where we retrieve 100% of the birds. The equipment we use is full bodied decoys and a mixture of different sized shells. I have final approach blinds used for wheat or barley stubble and pea fields. Once we fill our daily limits we pack up and head to the Lodge where I have a shop set up to clean the birds at no extra cost to you. If you do not want to help you can have your birds cleaned at your expense.
I have two dog runs if you wish to bring your hunting dog along. I also have a Chesapeake for retrieving. All hunters stay in a lodge attached to my house with all the amenities of home. Your accommodations include 2 hunters per room with 5 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. We also have full cell phone coverage, wireless internet, and satellite TV. In the evenings, we also have plenty of room to socialize while sitting around a bonfire. I think waterfowl hunting is the most enjoyable hunt with friends and family and we strive to make it the best holiday possible.

Saskatchewan Whitetail Deer Hunts
We have over 25 enclosed heated tower stands & 5 pop-up blinds for your comfort
We hunt in Eastern Saskatchewan on private ranch land, agricultural grain land and also Crown forest land. This is the best area to hunt as it has the best bush cover and the highest nutrition between the grain feilds and the forest. This area is referred to as the fringe area surrounding the Porcupine Provincial Forest. We are one of the furthest south outfitters in the province. Because we have farmland permits we are one of the 5% of the outfitters that can hunt deer in grain fields and alfalfa fields. All locations are 5 to 30 minutes from camp. Our guides are all local residents who are extremely familiar with this area. We take a maximum of 6 hunters per week in November. We also have an early season in October for muzzleloader hunters.
Due to a harsh winter in 2007 we decided not to hunt our camp in 2008 or 2009, instead we were feeding and taking pictures so we can have some real trophies for 2010.
We thought it best to let the deer grow for 2 more years before hunting this area again. I appreciate all my clients understanding that we need to give these 140-150 class deer a couple of years to grow so we can get quality bucks back. This will pay off highly in the long term.
We are now booking for the 2010 season as we are going to be feeding and video taping in the 2009 season so we have a good harvest for 2010.
