Golden Triangle Whitetail

Illinois is home to some of the biggest whitetail bucks taken in the country.  Pike, Brown, and Adams counties make up the Golden Triangle and produce record book bucks year and after year.  In the past three years alone, our clients took 51 bucks over 150 and 11 Boone & Crockets.  After thirteen years of outfitting we are proud to have exclusive hunting rights on 10,000 managed acres.  What is our recipe for success?  Exclusive rights on the best ground, low pressure, over 500 tree stands, 250 acres of food plots, and a dedicated staff. Our guides are not allowed to hunt so their only goal is to get you on the trophy buck of your dreams.  Last season 68% of our bow hunters actually shot at a 130 or better and historically 70% of our gun hunters go home with a trophy buck.

Tags

Illinois deer tags are on a draw system, but everyone who books prior to June 1st will receive a tag and permit.  Out of state hunters are allowed one buck with a bow and one buck with a firearm.  There are no high-powered rifles allowed in Illinois (only shotgun or muzzleloader) however most of our shots are between 60-80 yards with a gun and 20 yards and in with a bow.

All-Inclusive Experience

Our hunts are all fully guided and include all you can eat meals prepared by our chef daily, beautiful accommodations in our spacious lodges, and over 500-treestands blinds and shooting houses.  The Illinois hunting season goes from Oct 1 through January 17th, however we only hunt 32 days to ensure low pressure and success.  The majority of our business is repeat customers, so booking early is essential.  We require a $1,000 deposit to reserve your spot, and we only take a specific number of hunters per season.

Once Your Buck Is Down

Once your buck is down the guide will handle the rest, including the tracking, dragging, field dressing etc.  We have an incredible tracking dog that has recovered numerous bucks over the years that would have otherwise spoiled.  We have a meat processing center and taxidermist on staff for your convenience.  If you were lucky enough to kill early in the hunt, don’t worry…we can keep you occupied.  We have a game room with pool tables and big screen TV’s, a private pond stocked full of bass, an archery fall turkey hunt or we will be happy to get you extra doe tags to help with our deer management.

Trophy Management/Arrival to GTW

We do ask that every hunter shoot only mature bucks that score 125 or better to ensure proper trophy management.  We would like every hunter in camp to shoot a 140 or better, but we understand that a 125 is Pope & Young for a reason, which is why our minimum is 125.  Upon arrival in camp our head guide and friendly staff will greet you and show you to your room.  After dinner we show a video to help everyone judge what a 125-inch buck looks like on the hoof.  Right outside the lodge we have a large archery and firearm range for hunters to ensure their bows and guns are shooting properly after their travels.  The lodge is located in Clayton, IL near the Siloam Springs State Park.  If you prefer to fly than drive we recommend booking a ticket into St. Louis, MO then getting a flight with Cape Air ($49) which will bring you into Quincy, IL where we will pick you and drive you back to the lodge (30 minutes).
