RIFLE HUNTING SAFARIS
Available species can be divided into the following groups:
Plains Game: Hunting takes place on open plains as well as in savannah bushveld. The region offer an excellent variety of Plains Game including Blesbuck, Zebra, Waterbuck, Springbuck (Common, Kalahari, Black, White and Copper - collectively known as a “Grand Slam”), Mountain Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Blue and Black Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest (Cape), Vaal Rhebuck and Gemsbuck, to name but a few. Plains game hunting provides an excellent challenge from first time visitors to the more seasoned hunter with shots ranging from 30 yards up to 250 yards.
Spiral Horn: To be found in similar habitat as the Plains Game. Four sought after examples of Spiral Horn are on offer in the region namely Kudu (Southern Greater and Eastern Cape), Eland, Nyala and Bushbuck (Chobe, Limpopo and Eastern Cape). Sizes range from Eland, the world’s largest antelope, to Bushbuck, which coincidentally has a temperament similar to that of the Cape Buffalo. Spiral Horn forms the backbone and usually is the most impressive part of any trophy collection.
Pigmy Antelope: Do not let their size fool you, this is one of the most challenging groups available in the region. Your patience and hunting skills will be tested to the extreme when hunting the “Tiny Ten”. Habitat ranges from dense riverbanks, coastal sand forests and high mountainous areas. Species on offer include Blue, Red and Grey Duiker, Southern Bush Duiker, Oribi, Klipspringer, Cape and Sharps Grysbuck, Vaal Rhebuck and Steenbuck. Please bear in mind that some of these are subject to CITES permits.
Big Five: This is one group recognised by all in the hunter’s fraternity. Awe inspiring and respected. Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Cape Buffalo and Elephant. The mere mention of this group conjures images of the true African hunting safari experience. Unique to Africa, this is the ultimate test for all hunters. Allow us to assist you, with knowledge and experience, to hunt these great creatures in their own environment. Apart from Cape Buffalo, CITES permits are applicable.
BOW HUNTING
Recognised as one of the fastest growing disciplines in the region, we at GIX Africa are well aware of all the unique requirements involved with bow hunting. Be it a patient wait in a blind or a careful stalk, we will be there with you. Species available include Plains Game, Spiral Horn and Pigmy Antelope. We have at our disposal designated Bow Hunting areas where the needs of Bow Hunters are specifically catered for. These include pre-constructed elevated and pit blinds. Together with our knowledge of the different animals and their behaviour, you should be able to attain great trophies.
